About
Writing as Geneva Knight, Rachael Haupt crafts dark thrillers and misfit comedies with a cinematic edge. For over twenty years she helped bring blockbuster visions to life as a visual effects artist — credits include Babe, Gladiator, Troy, Harry Potter 2–4, I, Robot, King Kong, and Mad Max: Furiosa — working alongside directors Ridley Scott, Peter Jackson, and Chris Columbus.
To back her pivot from VFX studios to the writer's desk, she studied advanced writing at Oxford University and was one of fifteen writers selected for Curtis Brown's novel development program in 2020. Her training spans Oxford, NIDA, and UNSW — structural precision and production instinct in equal measure.
Her stories are cinematic fiction built for adaptation: outsiders in gritty urban worlds, suspense laced with dark humour, and characters standing just a few bad decisions away from disaster. In 2025, her short screenplay 'Do Not Leave Your Vehicle' made Coverfly's Red List (#4) and reached the semi-finals of the LA International Screenplay Awards. She is actively seeking literary and screen representation and welcomes collaboration with producers, publishers, and actors.
