THE PREMISE
A 23-year-old Australian arrives in London expecting answers about her missing father and instead inherits his bankrupt creature-effects workshop.
The business is held together by unpaid invoices, collapsing equipment and a fiercely loyal group of artists whose practical skills are becoming unfashionable as the film industry changes around them.
To keep the doors open, its reluctant new owner must become part producer, part detective and part referee, all while deciding whether the workshop is a burden she should escape or the first place that has ever felt like hers.
CHARACTER, ENGINE & TONE
A sharp, displaced 23-year-old Australian who never asked to run a workshop, manage its misfits or solve the mystery of the father who left it to her.
Each episode brings a new production crisis, impossible effects brief and financial disaster while the team fights to keep the workshop alive.
Warm, wry industrial satire with the ensemble heart of The Full Monty and the anarchic energy of Spaced.
